Riga won the game by 15 points and showed some really good skills in defense so we couldna¢?‚¬?„¢t expect an over in this match. Also Sakalai showed some class in first two quarters fighting against Valmiera, but then something happened and they lost it. We were choosing between Sakalai +4 and Sakalai 73+ and chose the wrong one, because they managed to score 74 points. And we should have taken Zalgiris - 13,5, but after reading some previews chose not to put any money on it, but still hope that some of you made quite a good profit taking Zalgiris - 10. That was a really good pick. Barons also did their job by winning it by 9 points against Neptunas. One pick for tomorrow:
1. Riga will be a little bit tired after the big match vs Nevezis
2. Rigaa¢?‚¬?„¢s team, on our opinion, at this moment is rising and havena¢?‚¬?„¢t reached their top form.

Well, the weekend is over and we finished it with a win. Overall it was a profitable weekend - 4 won and 1 lost picks (around 45-50% profit). The best team to bet on was Atletas. On Friday they lost by 26 points and that was what we needed and on Sunday they lost on 22 also as we predicted. Panevezys - Ventspils game was under too, so gave us profit too and Neptunas - Kalev game on Friday was well over 159. We should have also taken Kalev +30 in a match vs Zalgiris. And Tartu showed some defensive skills against Nevezis that brought us an under game, but we were close for an over. Good for those who took Nevezis +9, and good for those who took Tartu -4,5. There is one very interesting match in BBL on Tuesday. Nevezis meets Riga. The match will be very interesting and hope profitable too. Also some other matches in other leagues that we will try to get some info about too.
Quite an interesting pick from our side, but let?€™s see why we are taking it. Atletas had two games this season and both lost by 32 and 26 points to quite strong teams. The first match was lost because it was the first match in this season and young Atletas?€™ players didn?€™t have an experience in playing such games, so I think they lost because of a pressure. The second match, yesterday, was their first match away and for a team like this it is hard to expect something else and we won our pick because of that lost game. One thing I can tell is that youngsters from Atletas can shoot 3pointers very well. The team were expected to participate in LKL and BBL and to win some games, but after those two matches we can see that it will be hard for them to do it. The team manager said they are putting their effort to their young guys and think they will bring some wins this year. The players should feel a shame and should start playing more defensively and offensively too, so I expect them to loose by 14-22 points, but not more than 32.
And one more thing. I don?€™t if Lukminas will play today (one of the veterans) but if he does, then I?€™m almost sure they won?€™t loose by more than that. I know the guy, and I used to play with him last month in Kaunas one of the street court and I can only say good words about him and having this guy in a team the youngsters will be scared to loose the game. He is shouting if something is wrong, he is shouting if someone is not defending and not giving his 110% and he is shooting 3pointers as a crazy man (I mean he is shooting almost the same when he was 20 years old). So here we are talking about the psychological experience and psychological support and I think that is what this team needs most!

In general I would say that there are better picks on Saturday, but these ones should win too.

Sakalai - Siauliai NO BET
Decided not to take any pick on Sakalai Siauliai game because it is very hard to predict the winner and the total too. Sakalai won first match in LKL against Suduva 96-90 and Siauliai lost to Panevezys 58-81. Siauliai should be better, their squad havan?€™t changed much comparing to last year?€™s team, but it is only should. Sakalai plays well at home and it is always hard to win in Vilnius in Sakalai territory. At first it looked like an over for Sakalai, but from the other side Siauliai has to make some changes after the first match, so the defense is the key to the victory.
Once again we won?€™t risk taking any pick for this game, but if had to choose then it would be under 160 for both teams.
Last weekend we had a main pick against Atletas and it won with a high difference of points. This week Riga -17 is our site?€™s main pick too.
First of all coaches: R.Butautas vs D. Sirtautas. The first one used to be my coach some years ago and I can say that I?€™m proud that I had an opportunity to have a coach like Butautas. All best words could be said about this great man, but let?€™s discuss the pick. Butautas has a great experience in working with kids, women and men basketball too. All his life is dedicated to this sport and he is reaching his goal till the end. This year is the main year in working in Riga club, because as far as I know they have to reach final 6 in BBL and to win Latvian Baketball Championship and as I know Butautas told that everything depends on this year, so there is no doubt they will fight from the start of the season and I think the team is able to reach their goal.
I wrote much about Atletas team. I was shocked last weekend when I saw Atletas playing that poor defense. Yes they have many young players and they can shoot 3pointers from time to time, but the defense is very, very poor. Sirtautas - the head coach said he was disappointed to see his team playing like that and they really disappointed their fans loosing first game to Nevezis by 32 points. This is the first game on road for this young team and they will feel pressure from Riga fans. Players are too young for this kind of games and well balanced Riga should take an easy win here. They have also young Latvian players but with a better experience than Atletas?€™ players. Adding some foreign players the team looks to be fighting for the first place in Latvian league, so Riga -17 - the main bet of the weekend.
P.S. the handicap is growing so the sooner you?€™ll take or have already taken the better for you (hope Riga will destroy Atletas)
2nd pick. Tartu Rock - Nevezis over 154 @ 1,85 Triobet
The situation is very simple here about Nevezis team. I think Tartu started playing more offensive basketball this year than last year (taking a look at their preseason games) and not taking much care about the defense. They got some new players that are able to shoot and score points, but lets go straight to the point.
The main thing, as I said, about this pick is Nevezis?€™ players. There are only 8 players. They have very good starters than are able to score 3pointers, shoot, run and score many points, but the coach is still not letting Navickas, Rinkevicius and Simonavicius. The starters are: Aleksandrovas (he is in a very good shape, I was impressed by his play, the youngster from Zalgiris, can shoot 3pointers as well as score points behind the basket), Sirutavicius (more experienced, has very good ball control and the same with 3pointers), Sakinis (not experienced in such games, but is fighting for every point and is in a very good position in this team), Sakalauskas (also not a bad player that shoots many 3pointers) and Ramanauskas (youngster from Zalgiris team, that has been trained by good coaches). There is only Vasakidze, Mineikis and Kaukenas that are for substitute and their play of game is about 10 to 15 minutes and the starters are playing about 30-40 minutes, so foul trouble is the key for over. The coach knows that he hasn?€™t got many players and that they can?€™t make fouls every attack.
So, we have two teams that are able to shoot and it should be an over here.
3rd pick. Panevezys - Ventspils under 88 @ 1,8 Topsport
On my opinion the home team got only better this year, and Ventspils lost some important players. Pnevezys is playing great basketball at home and I think they won?€™t loose by 14+ points. Ventspils should take this win in a hard match, winning it by 4-8 points. I was impressed by their defense against Siauliai letting only 58 points to their basket. Siauliai has almost the same squad this year comparing to last year?€™s team. Panevezys changed a little bit and many people expect them to show better results than last year. If we add players from last yeara¢?‚¬?„¢s team - Beard, Maciulis, Kalnietis, Jankunas the team looks much stronger than they were last year. Lietuvos Rytas has also got some new players from abroad Batista, Emmet, Ivory, Blums also some new players from Lithuania - Pakamanis, Petravicius, Zukauskas that will make this team only stronger and this Championship more interesting. On our predictions Zalgiris should win this Championship looking from the start of the season, but youa¢?‚¬?„¢ll never know about the upcoming injuries and other facts, that may affect the team.
Talking about other teams they are as equal as never ever before. We have 7 more teams (excluding Zalgiris and Rytas) that can take 3rd place easily. Well to be more precise maybe Atletas and Suduva wona¢?‚¬?„¢t fight for the third place, but they will surely show their skills. Looking at the names and at the preseason games we can say that Neptunas, Siauliai, Panevezys, Nevezis and Sakalai have the same chances to take 3rd place. Also I think that will bring us many "under" games because every team has to start the game from defense and this opinion is well over the Lithuanian teams and Lithuanian coaches.

Suduva is a newcomer in LKL. So we are talking about the pressure that will affect the team. There are players that has some experience in playing in LKL, but there are also some new players from NKL like Marcinkevicius, Vansavicius and others that I know some of them personally, that had never played in this league before. It will be the first game for this team in LKL and it should be a low scoring game.
Sakalai can score many points and let their opponents do the same, but it usually happens in their home game. On away matches they can show their skills in defense nevertheless they dona¢?‚¬?„¢t have a good center. All players are well experienced in LKL and knows how to win games, but it is hard to predict the winner here because everything can be solved in last minutes, but if I had to choose the winner it would be Suduva victory in a low scoring match.

1st pick. Atletas(+32) - Ventspils @ 1,8 Omnibet
Quite an interesting pick from our side, but let?€™s see why we are taking it. Atletas had two games this season and both lost by 32 and 26 points to quite strong teams. The first match was lost because it was the first match in this season and young Atletas?€™ players didn?€™t have an experience in playing such games, so I think they lost because of a pressure. The second match, yesterday, was their first match away and for a team like this it is hard to expect something else and we won our pick because of that lost game. One thing I can tell is that youngsters from Atletas can shoot 3pointers very well. The team were expected to participate in LKL and BBL and to win some games, but after those two matches we can see that it will be hard for them to do it. The team manager said they are putting their effort to their young guys and think they will bring some wins this year. The players should feel a shame and should start playing more defensively and offensively too, so I expect them to loose by 14-22 points, but not more than 32.
And one more thing. I don?€™t if Lukminas will play today (one of the veterans) but if he does, then I?€™m almost sure they won?€™t loose by more than that. I know the guy, and I used to play with him last month in Kaunas one of the street court and I can only say good words about him and having this guy in a team the youngsters will be scared to loose the game. He is shouting if something is wrong, he is shouting if someone is not defending and not giving his 110% and he is shooting 3pointers as a crazy man (I mean he is shooting almost the same when he was 20 years old). So here we are talking about the psychological experience and psychological support and I think that is what this team needs most!
P.S. the second match Rytas - Panevezys looks like an under 159 game, but still gathering some info and considering about this pick to put it as a main one or not.

Neptunas has a new and young squad and Kalev signed some new well known Estonian players and are expected to reach much more this year than last year. In 2005/2006 season we could see Estonian teams playing very defensive basketball and both Tartu Rock and Kalev were always playing a low scoring match, but many changes were made this year and many new players joined both teams. We can see the result in Kalev games like 92-97 and other quite high scoring games comparing with last year.
Talking about Neptunas team, they will be playing in front of their crowd and will be able to show something for them. Their coach came back after spending one year in Rytas and all I can tell about Neptunas coach is that his team used to play very fast basketball 2 years ago, so that should be the choice too, because they have young guys that can run, and we all know about 3point shooters that comes from Klaipeda city. In general I would say that there are better picks on Saturday, but these ones should win too.
P.S. and if we would be talking about the winner here I would go for Kalev.
Sakalai - Siauliai NO BET
Decided not to take any pick on Sakalai Siauliai game because it is very hard to predict the winner and the total too. Sakalai won first match in LKL against Suduva 96-90 and Siauliai lost to Panevezys 58-81. Siauliai should be better, their squad havan?€™t changed much comparing to last year?€™s team, but it is only should. Sakalai plays well at home and it is always hard to win in Vilnius in Sakalai territory. At first it looked like an over for Sakalai, but from the other side Siauliai has to make some changes after the first match, so the defense is the key to the victory.
Once again we won?€™t risk taking any pick for this game, but if had to choose then it would be under 160 for both teams.
SATURDAY
1st pick. ASK Riga (-17,5) - Atletas @ 1,85 Triobet
Last weekend we had a main pick against Atletas and it won with a high difference of points. This week Riga -17 is our site?€™s main pick too.
First of all coaches: R.Butautas vs D. Sirtautas. The first one used to be my coach some years ago and I can say that I?€™m proud that I had an opportunity to have a coach like Butautas. All best words could be said about this great man, but let?€™s discuss the pick. Butautas has a great experience in working with kids, women and men basketball too. All his life is dedicated to this sport and he is reaching his goal till the end. This year is the main year in working in Riga club, because as far as I know they have to reach final 6 in BBL and to win Latvian Baketball Championship and as I know Butautas told that everything depends on this year, so there is no doubt they will fight from the start of the season and I think the team is able to reach their goal.
I wrote much about Atletas team. I was shocked last weekend when I saw Atletas playing that poor defense. Yes they have many young players and they can shoot 3pointers from time to time, but the defense is very, very poor. Sirtautas - the head coach said he was disappointed to see his team playing like that and they really disappointed their fans loosing first game to Nevezis by 32 points. This is the first game on road for this young team and they will feel pressure from Riga fans. Players are too young for this kind of games and well balanced Riga should take an easy win here. They have also young Latvian players but with a better experience than Atletas?€™ players. Adding some foreign players the team looks to be fighting for the first place in Latvian league, so Riga -17 - the main bet of the weekend.
P.S. the handicap is growing so the sooner you?€™ll take or have already taken the better for you (hope Riga will destroy Atletas)
2nd pick. Tartu Rock - Nevezis over 154 @ 1,85 Triobet
The situation is very simple here about Nevezis team. I think Tartu started playing more offensive basketball this year than last year (taking a look at their preseason games) and not taking much care about the defense. They got some new players that are able to shoot and score points, but lets go straight to the point.
The main thing, as I said, about this pick is Nevezis?€™ players. There are only 8 players. They have very good starters than are able to score 3pointers, shoot, run and score many points, but the coach is still not letting Navickas, Rinkevicius and Simonavicius. The starters are: Aleksandrovas (he is in a very good shape, I was impressed by his play, the youngster from Zalgiris, can shoot 3pointers as well as score points behind the basket), Sirutavicius (more experienced, has very good ball control and the same with 3pointers), Sakinis (not experienced in such games, but is fighting for every point and is in a very good position in this team), Sakalauskas (also not a bad player that shoots many 3pointers) and Ramanauskas (youngster from Zalgiris team, that has been trained by good coaches). There is only Vasakidze, Mineikis and Kaukenas that are for substitute and their play of game is about 10 to 15 minutes and the starters are playing about 30-40 minutes, so foul trouble is the key for over. The coach knows that he hasn?€™t got many players and that they can?€™t make fouls every attack.
So, we have two teams that are able to shoot and it should be an over here.
3rd pick. Panevezys - Ventspils under 88 @ 1,8 Topsport
On my opinion the home team got only better this year, and Ventspils lost some important players. Pnevezys is playing great basketball at home and I think they won?€™t loose by 14+ points. Ventspils should take this win in a hard match, winning it by 4-8 points. I was impressed by their defense against Siauliai letting only 58 points to their basket. As I mentioned before Ventspils lost their good shooters and shouldn?€™t score that many points. That is our prediction for this match. Ventspils under 88.
Also good picks would be Valmiera - Barons under 155,5, ASK Riga 86+, Zalgiris - Kalev+34, Ventspils -88.

Well it is the first match of LKL this year and we think it is the most risky pick of all three games that will be played this weekend, but still we think this one should go through. Siauliai has almost the same squad this year comparing to last year?€™s team. Players know each other very well and can demonstrate quality play and I think they will start doing it at the start of the season and at the starting match of LKL. Panevezys changed a little bit and many people expect them to show better results than last year. To tell the truth I thought they could reach better results last year, but something was missing in their play and I think it was the Coach. Coming back to this game we would like to say that in the games like this (the start of the season) teams are fighting and running all 40 minutes because everyone wants to show up in their crowd (I?€™m sure the sports arena in Panevezys will be full). So if the tempo of the game is very fast they can reach an over here. I?€™m taking Siauliai over 80 pts because they have many 3 point shooters and this team looks solid with a clever coach. Remembering last years games, Siauliai can score 20 points in 4 or 5 minutes so we can expect over here, but once again I think this bet is the most risky of all three weekend games.
So, let the season begin as we got the first odds from bookies on the Lithuanian Basketball League!
LKL starts on Friday (22nd of September). There is one game on Friday and two games on Saturday. Also we got quite reasonable handicaps and totals for these games, but still we will try to have a pick for every game.
First of all we would like to have a preview about 2006/2007 season. As it is always there are two teams in this league that we know well and that are always above the others - Zalgiris and Lietuvos Rytas. Zalgiris got many new players - Popovic, Motola, Machado, Peciukas. If we add players from last yeara¢?‚¬?„¢s team - Beard, Maciulis, Kalnietis, Jankunas the team looks much stronger than they were last year. Lietuvos Rytas has also got some new players from abroad Batista, Emmet, Ivory, Blums also some new players from Lithuania - Pakamanis, Petravicius, Zukauskas that will make this team only stronger and this Championship more interesting. On our predictions Zalgiris should win this Championship looking from the start of the season, but youa¢?‚¬?„¢ll never know about the upcoming injuries and other facts, that may affect the team.
Talking about other teams they are as equal as never ever before. We have 7 more teams (excluding Zalgiris and Rytas) that can take 3rd place easily. Well to be more precise maybe Atletas and Suduva wona¢?‚¬?„¢t fight for the third place, but they will surely show their skills. Looking at the names and at the preseason games we can say that Neptunas, Siauliai, Panevezys, Nevezis and Sakalai have the same chances to take 3rd place. Also I think that will bring us many "under" games because every team has to start the game from defense and this opinion is well over the Lithuanian teams and Lithuanian coaches.
As it was last year we expect to have the biggest profit in this league, but have to be careful at the start of the season as we may see many surprising results, nevertheless good luck to all with your bets and hope for profitable season!

That is the best pick of this weekend on our opinion. Firstly about Atletas. They havena¢?‚¬?„¢t got many quality players, their squad consists of some veterans and some youngsters and I cana¢?‚¬?„¢t say anything good about their coach Sirtautas (maybe it is only for now) who started coaching career only couple of weeks ago. The thing that we got these odds from bookies on Nevezis is some quite good preseason results, but that was only preseason games.
Nevezis has also some quite young players, but if we compare them to Atletas youngsters they are way beyond players like Sakinis, Navickas, Vasakidze, Aleksandrovas or Ramanauskas. Many Nevezisa¢?‚¬?„¢ players has played for Zalgiris in Lithuanian league and were rented for Nevezis for now on. And I was always impressed by their coach Leonavicius, who is quite simple man, but he has everything in order in his team and is very strict to his players. Players are working hard in defense so an under for Atletas would be a good choice too.
On general Nevezis players should be showing better results in LKL than Atletas and we think they will start getting points from the first game.
3rd pick. Suduva under 81pts - Sakalai
Suduva is a newcomer in LKL. So we are talking about the pressure that will affect the team. There are players that has some experience in playing in LKL, but there are also some new players from NKL like Marcinkevicius, Vansavicius and others that I know some of them personally, that had never played in this league before. It will be the first game for this team in LKL and it should be a low scoring game.
Sakalai can score many points and let their opponents do the same, but it usually happens in their home game. On away matches they can show their skills in defense nevertheless they dona¢?‚¬?„¢t have a good center. All players are well experienced in LKL and knows how to win games, but it is hard to predict the winner here because everything can be solved in last minutes, but if I had to choose the winner it would be Suduva victory in a low scoring match.
On general we hope to see a defensive game especially from well experienced Sakalai and many missed shots from a new LKL team instead of their big crowd.
